Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. She was raised by her mother, who was household worker and father who was a teacher. Michael Dennis Kevin, her two brothers older. McCormick is always a fan of dancing, singing and putting on show puppets. McCormick won in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was contacted via Pat Domigan, a talent agent of the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to work in the show business. McCormick had her first significant task when she was cast in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels new baby doll, Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show The Wind It up and It is Broken in the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was in the company of over 1200 other kids for the part of the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom featured Florence Henderson and Robert Reed, newlyweds who had an unmarried family. The series lasted 5 years. McCormick wrote in her book Heres the Story Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice Published in 2008 McCormick told of how in the 5th season of the television show, she nearly lost her virginity with her brother Barry Williams. In the moment, she was just 16 years old and he was 19. It was likely that we would have a romantic relationship, said she. The timing, however, wasn't right.
